The Wooded Retreat of Houston Champions Forest
When searching for a place to call home with peace and serenity in mind, future residents look no further than the wooded retreat of Champions Forest. Located off of 1960 and 249, this affluent neighborhood has enjoyed families, retirees, and many others calling it their home since the late 70’s. With beauty and prosperity combined, Champions Forest has long been sought after as a community you can relax in.
History
When cities like Houston were known for being the concrete jungles of prosperity, residents began to seek out a more scenic place to call home. That’s when Greenwood Properties brought in Don Hand for a creative and effective solution. Over 900 acres were then purchased to begin this incredible land development project we know and love today.
Homes began to sprout up one by one and each more beautiful than the next. Some homes reflected traditional style in their design. Other homes were designed in more of an English or French representation. These included high ceilings, hardwood floors, and other luxuries you would expect to find in a neighborhood deemed “The River Oaks of the north.”
Communities and Amenities
When driving through the tree-lined streets, you can gaze upon the large wooded lots and mansions that make other nearby neighbors seethe with envy. Many of these homes boast large porches, beautiful patios, and even double garages. If you can catch a glimpse of the backyard lots, you can often see extravagant pools, gazebos, and beautiful landscaping for that added touch of glamour.

One of the most remarkable features that can be found is the beautiful feathered wildlife. In 1980, Champions Forest was so abundant with assorted migratory birds, that the Houston Audubon Society classified it as a bird sanctuary. With this designation, local birds find themselves not only protected by onlookers but also by the law as well. Bird lovers and residents can often be found supporting this feature with bird-watching hikes and being encouraged to grow native plants to draw them in.
For those who enjoy a beautiful outdoor setting, Champions Forest has an abundance of outdoor parks. When looking for a place to take a stroll, Cypress Forest Park has beautiful trails and cycling paths to enjoy. Faith & Religion
For residents of faith, there are many churches that can be found close by. The Cypresswood Mormon Temple, now known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can be found directly off Champion Forest Dr.. This beautiful structure has stood tall for many years, even after retaining nearly a foot of water from Hurricane Harvey. They have long served their community as they have spread their faith and love wherever they go.
Another incredibly diverse and quickly growing church is Champion Forest Baptist Church. Since 1970 this congregation has expanded from their very first Reverend, Robin Guess, to a faith filled committee with Pastor Jarrett. Although their beginnings were small, they have stretched out their arms to embrace multiple locations throughout the area. They continue to this day to make a real difference in Champions Forest and any member who walks into their beautiful churches.
With faith in great abundance, many other incredible churches can be found nearby as well:
